S2S Kicks Off “Walk 2 the Gulf” on 9/11 to Help Americans In Need
On 9/11, Shoes 2 Share and residents of Delaware and surrounding states will gather at Christiana Mall for a ceremonial 2-mile walk around the mall from 8am-12pm to inaugurate the first group of “Walk 2 the Gulf” walkers. Tim and Rhonda Wampler, co-founders of Shoes 2 Share International, will bear the “Shoes 2 Share Torch of Hope,” symbolizing the steps of American patriots who will take action to restore life in the gulf. This will kick off the first 2 miles of the 1273 mile walk towards Dulac, Louisiana, the final destination of the “Walk 2 the Gulf.” The Shoes 2 Share ‘Walk 2 the Gulf’ is about Americans helping and responding to the needs of other Americans. It’s about giving hope to families and their children who have been devastated by the oil spill.
We chose Dulac, Louisiana because they are a small community of people that almost entirely depend upon fishing for their livelihood. This spill will impact this community immediately, as well as, future generations to come.
To get involved participants should:
| 1. | Pre-register as a team captain or walker, or register the day-of at 8 AM. |
| 2. | Set a monetary goal. For this, you can use the walker’s pledge form. |
| 3. | Collect shoes & monetary donations. Also, click here for a complete list of relief items to donate. |
| 4. | Walk 2 miles on Patriot Day in remembrance of those who need shoes. |

Shoes 2 Share invites everyone around the U.S. on September 11, 2010 to commence on their own “Walk 2 the Gulf” whether it is at Christiana Mall, in your neighborhood, local park, or even on your treadmill, and send all shoes and donations to Shoes 2 Share International, 674 Pencader Drive Newark, DE 19702. Shoes should be new or like new and including a couple of “shoe bucks” for shipping makes the donation.
